I like to do my bit for the planet and think green where possible, which is why I translate this through to my technical authoring.

Sometimes paper-based manuals are essential and necessary, in this instance, keeping everything clear and concise, double-sided, reduce repetition etc, can all cut down on page count and make the overall document easier to read and follow.

Where paper-based are not necessary, as often they become out of date almost as soon as they have been printed, there are other methods of delivery.

A well designed and executed on-line delivery is much more efficient, in many ways.

• Saves distribution costs
• Easier to find content
• Easier to update content
• Allows collaboration
• Can be kept constantly up-to-date
